Summary

My name is Joseph Chanice, and I live in New York. I graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a B.F.A in Digital Art and Design (May 2018). I have always possessed an appreciation for 2D/3D art, animation, and video games, and this appreciation inspired me to learn more about the creative process, which led me to push myself to become a digital artist. As an undergraduate digital arts student, I have gained proficiency in tools including Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Toonboom Harmony, Clip Studio Paint, the Adobe Creative Suite, Unreal Engine 4, Marmoset Toolbag and Hexels. While working as a lab assistant for NYIT’s Motion Capture studio, I assisted in motion capture shoots, worked in Motion Builder and Vicon Blade. During my studies in game design, I used Unreal engine 4 to develop a polished small-scale game, where I produced the majority of the assets, code, music, and lighting In Unreal Engine 4. Our Senior Thesis 3D animation was also fully rendered in Unreal Engine 4. Professionally, I have created environment assets for a mobile game, and have cleaned motion capture data during the development of an app. I continue to develop my technical abilities in new programs daily.

With my unique style, I produce whimsical, dreamlike creature and character designs accompanied by a variety of pleasing background landscapes. The extra effort and attention to detail I put in, give my 2D animations a new level of life. My 3D skills are reliable and efficient. This is necessary when creating assets for environments and character creation. Using Substance Painter, I am able to texture the assets I create, regardless of the material it is made out of. As a dedicated, open minded and approachable individual, I am a valuable asset to any digital art studio environment. I work efficiently and effectively with others on group projects, and I am excellent at meeting deadlines. In my free time, I love producing digital art, music in FL Studio, and playing video games. I also enjoy working with computers, and have built and worked on many for friends and family.

Through my artwork, storytelling, and sound design, I want to design games that will completely immerse the audience into the worlds I create.
